Venerable Jaseung, President of the Jogye Order, Appointed as Chairman of the Korean Conference of Religions for Peace (KCRP)

Venerable Jaseung, president of the Jogye Order, was appointed the 8th chairman of the Korean Conference of Religions for Peace (KCRP). Ven. Jaseung was nominated for the two year term by the group’s co-chairmen and approved by those members in attendance at the 29th regular general assembly held on May 21, 2014. The meeting took place at the International Conference Hall in the Korean Buddhism History and Culture Memorial Hall near Jogyesa Temple in Seoul. Ven. Jaseung expressed his thoughts after the appointment by saying, "I will do my best for the reconciliation of all Korean religions and the development of the KCRP.”
The KCRP originated from the interfaith dialogue first launched in 1965 in Seoul among religious leaders of Buddhism, Christianity, Catholicism, Confucianism, Won Buddhism, and Cheondo-gyo. After the Asian Conference for Religious Peace (ACRP) held its 3rd general assembly in Seoul in 1986, this meeting was transformed into the KCRP. The group maintains partnerships with international organizations working towards the common goals of interfaith peace and reconciliation.
