The Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism (Head monk, Ven. Jinhwa) announced the winners of the "Sixth Buddhist Cultural Product Contest" on Feb. 12, 2014. This annual event is aimed at developing a number of creative Buddhist cultural products that reflect the cultural values of Korean Buddhism, based on the participation of average citizens.

This year, 249 teams applied with a total of 552 creative products, demonstrating an increasing interest from the public. The total number of applicants was larger than in any previous year. For the first time, contest winners were decided based on two distinct categories: professionals and amateurs.

This year, Ms. Oesun Sung and Ms. Kiran Jung were winners of the grand prizes for the professional and amateur divisions. The award ceremony was held at 2:30 pm on February 19 in the Korean Buddhism History and Culture Memorial Hall. Ms. Oesun Sung, the winner in the professional division for her work, "Lotus Oil Lamp," was awarded a certificate of merit along with 10 million Korean won. Ms. Kiran Jung, the winner in the amateur division for her work, "Paper-Mache Doll of Four Guardian Deities," was awarded 5 million Korean won.

All the awarded works of art will be exhibited and open to the public on the first floor of the Korean Buddhism History and Culture Memorial Hall from February 17 to 28. From March 6-9, they will be available at the Buddhism Expo 2014 in SETEC, Seoul. Afterwards they will be continuously exhibited on the first floor of Templestay Information Center from March 10-31.
