Invitation for the 26th General Conference of the
World Fellowship of Buddhists
Dear Regional Centers of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB/WFBY & WBU);
WFB Korea Conference organized by Jogye Order, the representative of 1700 years of Korean Buddhist history and tradition will be held in beautiful marine city Yeosu from 11th to 16th June 2012. This Korea Conference will host 26th WFB General Conference, 17th WFBY General Conference (40th Anniversary Celebration), 9th WBU Council Meeting, academic forum, business forum, etc. This will be an opportunity to affirm harmony and pride of Buddhists around the world.
At this time of mutual distrust and world of fetish, collaborated endeavour for the mankind’s happiness and peace through Buddhist teaching are required more than any other time. Hope through the teaching of Buddha, people around the world can reestablish reciprocal equality and reciprocal respect.
This WFB Korea Conference’s theme is "Buddhist Ecological-Environmental Thought & Practice for the 21st Century." Under this theme, WFB regional center’s representatives and world’s renowned scholars will come together providing reference to the alternative Buddhist ideology in this fast changing world. Also this conference will provide opportunity for the detailed and practical discussion of the sub-theme - How to Effectively Convey the Essence of Oriental Buddhist Ideology to the West.
Dear Dharma friends! WFB Korea Conference is a precious opportunity for the world Buddhist leaders to gather together and suggest New Buddhist Vision, experience essence of Korean traditional Buddhist culture and appreciate the diversity. 불기 2555(2012)년 6월11일부터 16일까지 대한민국 여수에서 개최되는 제17차 세계불교도 청년우의회 및 제9회 세계불교대학협의회와 공동으로 다가오는 제26차 세계불교도우의회의 대회 행사를 발표하게 된 것을 정말로 특전의 기회라고 생각합니다. “21세기 인류평화의 갈망에 보답하는 대회 그리고 세계 환경문제의 대안을 찾는 대회”를 표방하면서, 대회주제는 “21세기의 불교생태환경사상과 수행”입니다.
WFB 본부로서는 이번 대회를 주관하는 조직위원회와 대한불교조계종 자승 총무원장 큰 스님과 대한불교조계종 중앙신도회 회장이신 김의정 박사님께 심심한 감사의 말씀을 올립니다.
이번 대회의 주관단체와 조직위원회에서 곧 향후 세부일정과 모든 문의사항에 대한 안내와 대회에 부속하는 참가신청에 대하여 알려드릴 것입니다. 그러므로 대회와 관련된 모든 사항은 직접 조직위와 연락하실 것을 요청 드립니다.
우리 대회의 장소는 대한민국 여수에서 5월 12일부터 8월 12일까지 개최되는 엑스포와 같은 장소로서 국제적인 각광을 받게 될 것입니다. 800만 명이 참가할 것으로 예상되는 국제박람회로서, "살아있는 대양과 연안"이라는 주제로 주관하는 대한민국 국민들의 성공적인 엑스포가 될 것을 기원합니다.
우리는 WFB, WFBY 대회와 WBU의 회의의 성공적인 개최와 불교사적으로 생산적인 획기적인 행사가 되도록 기여하실 WFB의 모든 대표와 옵서버 회원들을 만날 것을 기대해마지 않습니다.
