Aspiration Prayer for the 2012 WFB Inauguration Ceremony
To the Great Buddha, present in countless worlds in the ten quarters and with all-knowing boundless wisdom, we make this aspiration prayer.
On this meaningful occasion to prepare for the 26th WFB, 17th WFBY, and 9th WBU Conference taking place during the 2012 Yeosu Expo, the Head Temple for the 6th District of the Jogye Order would like to pledge to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that we will devote ourselves for the success of this international Buddhist event.
Although we all come from different countries with various culture and traditions, we will work to bring together Buddhists around the world, while propagating the Teachings of Lord Buddha for the development of mankind. Moreover, we will put all our efforts to unite Dharma Sisters and Brothers in order to deliver sentient beings from the world of delusion.
The Honam District of Korea is deeply honored and grateful that South Korea will host such an important World Buddhist Conference. It is a great opportunity to introduce Korea’s Buddhist Traditional Culture to the rest of the world, especially the Honam district’s (including Yeosu region) distinct Buddhist Culture. President of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism had a world-wide perspective and insight to propagate Korean Buddhism internationally, and this is one of the examples of how his noble “International Buddhism Policy” is being implemented. Whether we belong to Theravada, Mahayana or Vajrayana Traditions, it is now time for the division to dissolve. We must work together as disciple of the Buddha to generate loving-kindness and work in harmony for the benefit and happiness of all beings.
To the Vairochana Buddha with the embodiment of Dharmakaya, who brings great pervading light of the universe we ask for your blessing!
Buddhists around the world will assemble to discuss “Buddhist Ecological-Environmental Thoughts & Practices” during the 2012 WFB Korea Conference. I trust that this conference will make its worthy contribution to protect and preserve the sacred mother earth and find a fruitful solution to the world’s problem. There has been increase in environmental destruction and industrialization in recent decades, causing more people to suffer breakdowns as an after effect. We ask that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the universe will provide us with strength, courage and wisdom during the time of such unrests in the world. Let the Buddhists of the world be equipped to find solutions and make commitments to implement ideas so that we may safely preserve this sacred earth.
The Lord Buddha, the master of the universe with limitless wisdom and who can guide all beings. Together with the President of Jogye Order, we send out sincere aspiration prayer for the success of 2012 WFB Korea Conference inaugurated today.

시방세계에 두루 하시고 일체종지로 만 중생을 살피시어 무량한 광명의 지혜를 주시는 부처님께 발원하옵니다.
2012년 여수 엑스포를 맞이하여 개최되는 WFB 제 26차 WFBY 제17차 WBU 제 9차 대회의 성공적인 개최를 위하여 우리 호남 6본사와 말사 사부대중은 열과 성을 다하여 정진할 것을 제불 보살 님 전에 머리 숙여 약속드리옵니다.
나라와 문화와 전통은 다르지만 세계불교도들은 다함께 일불 제자들로서 똑같이 부처님의 정법을 널리 펴고 모든 중생을 제도한다는 원력을 세워 정진하는 법 형제로서의 돈독한 우의를 다지는 대회가 되도록 최선을 다하겠습니다.
삼계의 대 스승이시고 우주 삼라만상의 두두 물물에 다 불성을 편재하여 자비광명을 현현하시는 부처님이시여!
한국에서 이런 세계적인 불교행사를 갖게 된 것은 우리 호남불자들에게는 실로 영광스러운 일이옵니다. 한국의 불교문화 특히 여수지역은 물론이거니와 호남지역의 불교전통을 세계의 불자들에게 보여줄 기회를 갖게 된 것은 한국불교의 세계화란 차원에서 총무원장님의 탁월한 안목과 통찰력에 의한 종단의 국제 불교 정책의 구현이라고 생각하옵니다. 이제는 남방불교니 북방불교니 하는 차별이나 대립은 지양되어야하며, 다 같은 부처님의 제자들로서 정법을 구현하여 세상을 구하고 무명 중생을 제도하는 대승보살행을 실천할 때라고 저희들은 다짐하옵니다.
우주와 지구촌 곳곳에 항상 계시는 법신비로자나 부처님이시여!
2012 WFB 한국대회에서는 세계의 불교도들이 함께 모여서 ‘21세기의 불교생태환경사상과 수행’에 대해서 토론하고 좋은 실천방안을 찾는 마당이 될 것이옵니다. 지금 인류는 환경파괴와 산업화의 후유증으로 인간정신은 점점 황폐화되어 가고 있는 위기의 시대에 처해 있습니다. 제불보살님들께서는 힘과 용기와 지혜를 주시어서 세계의 불자들이 지구촌이 건강하도록 하는 좋은 결론을 도출하여 실천할 수 있도록 지혜와 가피를 주시옵기를 간절히 앙망하옵니다.
삼계의 큰 스승이시고 무량한 지혜를 갖추시어 일체중생을 제도하시는 부처님이시여!
오늘 출범하는 2012 WFB 제 26차 대회가 성공적으로 원만하게 회향되도록 총무원장스님을 모시고 저희 사부대중은 최선을 다 하도록 정진할 할 것을 발원하옵니다.
