On July 9, Most Ven. Jinwoo, the president of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and other religious leaders met with President Lee Jae-myung at the Yongsan Presidential Office for a luncheon. He urged President Lee during the luncheon to build a country where the citizens can live in peace and happiness.
At the luncheon, hosted by President Lee, Most Ven. Jinwoo delivered a greeting as co-chair of the Korean Council of Religious Leaders and asked the president to make Korea the best country in the world.
“I hope that the people will be more at peace, even if it means your life becomes harder. Even better, I hope that our president and the people will all be happy together,” said Most Ven. Jinwoo. “May you be healthy so that you can make Korea great, and may we all work together to achieve the goal.”
“I expect the religious community will play an increasingly important role so that the spirit of forgiveness, reconciliation, inclusion, and openness - the basic reason for religion’s existence - can permeate our society,” said President Lee, who added, “I ask the religious leaders to be role models and responsible adults for the Korean community.”
