On January 1st, at the Beopwang-nu Pavilion of Bongeun-sa Temple in Seoul, the president of the Jogye Order conducted the 108 prostrations for the new year, praying for a world of equality and harmony. Over 100 people accompanied him, including Ven. Seongung, director of the General Affairs Office, key officials from central administrative bodies, Ven. Wonmyeong, abbot of Bongeun-sa Temple, and Ven. Gakjin, deputy abbot.

The event gained deeper significance with the participation of the families who lost their loved ones in the Jeju Air tragedy, workers from Coupang's logistics centers, non-regular workers from the Taean Thermal Power Plant, migrant workers, and civic activists campaigning for the enactment of the anti-discrimination law and the end to poverty. Before they started 108 prostrations, all in attendance engaged in Seon meditation to pray for peace for all citizens.

In his New Year's address, Most Ven. Jinwoo urged all Buddhists to practice Seon meditation to purify their minds by letting go of the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion. He called for revealing Buddhism's “original face” through Seon meditation to build a Pure Land of Buddhism on earth.
