Medicine Buddha Hall (Yaksa-jeon)

약사전

This hall is dedicated to the Medicine Buddha who cures disease and sickness. He is also believed to heal the inner poisons of greed, hatred, and ignorance. In his hand, he holds a jar of medicine to remedy the ills of the world. Medicine Buddha is very popular with people as they believe he can ward off all disasters and heal disease if they recite his name and petition for his protection.

Enshrined to the left of the Medicine Buddha is Candra-prabha, or Moonlight Bodhisattva (Wolgwang Bosal), and to the left is Surya-prabha, or Sunlight Bodhisattva (Ilgwang Bosal).
