On Jan. 13, Manwolsa Temple Beijing (abbot, Ven. Wongeol) visited the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum along with devotees and saw the exhibition titled “The Great Art of Dunhuang.”

Showcasing the essence of Buddhist art along the Silk Road and replicating major artworks of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, the exhibition was the largest about Dunhuang so far. The exhibition displayed restored pictures—as though the original artworks had been moved to the exhibition hall from their original sites—as well as relics and experiential events. Manwolsa’s residents and devotees appreciated the diverse illustrated sutras, including Jataka Tales, Lotus Sutra, Mahaparinirvana Sutra, and Sutra of the Meditation on the Buddha of Immeasurable Life (Amitāyur-dhyāna-sūtra), and reaffirmed their vows to grow as true Buddhists by imprinting the Buddha’s teachings once more in their hearts.
