On November 15, about 50 students from Columbia University Buddhist Students Association (CUBA) participated in a one-day Templestay at Wongaksa Temple (abbot Jigwang Seunim) in New York City, hosted by Gou Seunim. The one-day Templestay is the first traditional Templestay for local university students in the United States.

The event began with a lecture on the architecture of Daeungjeon (Great Hero Hall) by Jigwang Seunim, the president of the Eastern US Branch of the Jogye Order, and continued with various programs such as walking meditation, sitting meditation, baru gongyang (formal monastic meal), copying the Heart Sutra, and tea meditation.
