The Manweolsa in Beijing, Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism

Established by the Beijing Korean Buddhist Association in 1994, Mangwol-sa Temple in Beijing completed the construction of its Dharma hall at the present location in 2004, becoming the sole Korean temple in Beijing. It serves as not only a spiritual haven for Korean Buddhists living far from their homeland but also as a cultural center. The Sunday services typically attract 15 to 30 attendees, mostly students and lay practitioners. The temple observes important Buddhist holidays and rituals like All Souls’ Day (Ullambane), the first day of the lunar month, Avalokitesvara rites, and Kstigharbh rites. Additionally, Mangwol-sa Temple hosts various activities, including temple tours, prayer sessions for students, outdoor Dharma assemblies, and prayer sessions during the summer and winter retreat seasons.
