Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Tahlmahsah
Tahlmahsah, the first Jogye Order temple in Los Angeles, has a history dating back to Master Seung Sahn's visit to the city in 1972. He aimed to promote the teachings of Dharma through Korean Buddhism in the diverse cultural landscape of the United States. In pursuit of this vision, he invited his disciple Ven. Gyejeong to the United States, who with the support of individuals sharing Master Seung Sahn's vision, established Tahlmahsah. In 2015, it received recognition as the United States Midwestern propagation center of Sudeok-sa Temple belonging to the Deoksung lineage in Korea. Tahlmahsah conducts Dharma services every Sunday, attracting around 35 Buddhists and hosts a youth Dharma group consisting of approximately 10 young adults.
