Jaeunsa

Jaeunsa was established in 1991 by Ven. Wonmyeong of the Yeondeung International Buddhist Center to promote Buddhism in the former Soviet region. In 2001, the temple's abbot, Ven. Joju, officially registered it as the "Uzbekistan Buddhist Temple" in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, enabling them to lawfully engage in propagation activities. In 2015, Jaeunsa underwent relocation and in February 2016, it opened the "Korea Buddhist Medical Center" in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to introduce Buddhism to the local population. The temple also maintains connections with students from the University of Mannheim. Weekly Dharma services with around 50 participants are held, along with special ceremonies on occasions such as Seollal (New Year's Day), All Souls’ Day (ullambana), and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).
