On May 19, as the summer intensive retreat of B.E. 2569 began, Most Ven. Jinwoo delivered a Dharma talk during the repentance ceremony for centrally administered districts held in the Main Dharma Hall at Jogyesa Temple. “The three poisons of the mind - desire, hatred, and ignorance - give rise to eternal suffering, resulting in the endless cycle of rebirth in the three lower realms of samsara. Therefore, we must thoroughly immerse ourselves in practice so that we can break free from the karma of pleasant and unpleasant feelings,” said the president of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. A total of 219 people, including 85 monks and 134 nuns from the relevant districts, attended the repentance ceremony and listened to the talk.

Quoting the first verse of the Xinxin Ming (信心銘), “Attaining profound Dharma is not difficult, for the only thing detrimental to the Path is discrimination. Once you stop loving or hating, the Path will naturally open wide,” Most Ven. Jinwoo told the monastic assembly that if they take this teaching to heart and practice it faithfully, all obstacles will disappear.

“The Buddha also said, ‘If you want to see the future, look at yourself now.’ This means that the karma of pleasure and pain is self-inflicted and self-generated,” said the president of the Jogye Order. "Therefore, monks and nuns should devote their lives to propagating Dharma. To this end, you must live a dignified life as monastics, and the best way to lead the sentient beings to Dharma is to be a living model of such dignity.”
