The Hwa Gye Sa Temple is reopening the International Seon Center which has been fully renovated for last 1 year. Now, some international Sunims are practicing during the period under the Summer Intensive Retreat.
Seung Sahn Haeng Won Sunim is the first Korean Seon Master to begin teaching in the West. He received Dharma transmission from Seon Master Ko Bong, one of the most famous Masters of the time.
Seung Sahn went to the U.S. in 1972 and started to teach life and Seon practice in Providence, Rhode Island. From these beginnings the Providence Seon Center was formed, and is now the head temple for many more Seon Centers around the world. There are now more than 100 Seon Centers in almost 30 countries around the world.
Following the Seon Master Seung Sahn’s Teachings, for international as well as Korean peoples, Hwa Gye Sa is providing Sunday Sittings in the International Seon Center, 4th floor of Dae Jeck Kwang Jeon. The sitting starts at 13:00, ending at 15:00. One session consists of 30 minute sitting plus follow-up 10 minute walking. From 15:00 to 16:00, Dharma Talks will be delivered. For the beginners, there will be a brief instructions starting at 12:30, offered by Bo Haeng SN who is the Head Monk of the International Seon Center.
