The Jogye Order has launched a humanitarian assistance program for North Korean children to help facilitate North/South Korean reconciliation. The program is called the "Dodamdodam Campaign: Nutritional Support for North Korean Children.” It is jointly run by the Head Office for Promoting North/South Korean National Unity (a subsidiary of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism), and Friends on the Path Foundation – the Jogye Order’s foundation for public interest. The campaign was launched on March 29, 2014 with a proclamation ceremony held at Limjingak Pavilion in Paju. The Korean word "Dodamdodam" describes a child who is flourishing.
The campaign was designed to deliver nutritional supplements and medicine to North Korean children who suffer from malnutrition and sickness. Funds have been collected from public donations to the campaign, donations to the Friends on the Path Foundation, and donations from individuals and corporations. Nutritional supplements and anti-parasitic medications will be delivered to North Korea before the end of June 2014.
