Joint Memorial Service for World Peace in Commemoration of the Korean War Armistice
For the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice, the Joint Memorial Service for World Peace was held in Hwacheon, one of the bloodiest battlegrounds of the war. The service was held in honor of the one million fallen soldiers from 28 countries – a prayer for the dead of both allies and past foes.
Venerable Jaseung, the President of the Jogye Order, emphasized in his eulogy the importance of remembering the pain of the war-dead, and vowed to work in unity to ensure that such horrors are not repeated.
