The Eastern US Branch of the Overseas Special District (Branch President Ven. Jikwang) held its first half-year general assembly on January 10th at New Jersey Wonjuksa Temple.
Branch President Ven. Jikwang (Abbot of Wonkaksa Temple), Advisor Ven. Wonyoung (Head Abbot of Borisa Temple), director of administration Ven. Seonghyang (Abbot of Wonjuksa Temple), director of finance Ven. Sunmun (Abbot of Bulgwangsa Temple), director of affairs Ven. Seokrim (Wonjuksa Temple), director of Discipline Ven. Ingyung (Abbot of Jogyesa Temple), director of social affairs Ven. Seonmyeong (Wonkaksa Temple), Ven. Deungmyeong (Wonjuksa Temple), and Ven. Hyorim (Bulgwangsa Temple) attended. They presented reports on the results of the district projects for the second half of 2023, along with reports on member temples’ events. Subsequently, discussions were held on this year's district projects, including participation in Vesak Day (at the United Nations, Columbia University, and Yale University) and joint ceremonies on Buddha’s Birthday, while also sharing plans for member temples’ events to activate the network.
It is anticipated that a clearer direction for better missionary activities and organic relationships with the headquarters will be facilitated with the active participation of monastic members.
