News from New York Jogyesa Temple About Year-End and New Year
New York Jogyesa Temple (Abbot Ven. Ingung) held the winter solstice Dharma assembly on December 24th of the previous year.
The followers joined the communal prayers sincerely for the peace and prosperity of their families hoping the touch of compassionate Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva reach them. After the service they enjoyed red bean porridge together.
Additionally, from December 30th to January 1st of the year 2024, the temple held a two-day year-end event. Ven. Ingung encouraged the participants to put aside any regrets from the passing year, which was challenging and to pray for abundant blessings in the upcoming year. The event consisted with three parts starting with 3,000 prostrations as the first part, followed by the Sunday Dharma service and the inauguration ceremony of the lay association in the second part. Finally, it was wrapped up with a year-end Dharma assembly and the midnight bell-ringing ceremony, all concluded with a prayer for blessings in the new year.
