On September 7, Bohyun Buddha Temple in Dallas (Abbot: Ven. Jiam) dedicated the completion of its 18th 100-Day Summer Practice and officiated a joint memorial service on the day of the Ullambana, also known as the Hungry Ghosts Festival. Every summer, Bohyun Buddha Temple welcomes the Ullambana Festival by enshrining memorial tablets for all departed souls—whether they have living descendants or not—and performing compassionate Dharma rituals (慈悲道場懺法) to guide all souls to rebirth in the Buddha’s Pure Land. The temple practices together with the public every Sunday.
“On the day of the Ullambana each year, we hold a joint memorial service, collect and deliver modest donations to lonely people to practice the compassion of benefiting others, and strive ceaselessly to follow the Bodhisattva Path,” said Bohyun Buddha Temple.
