On January 31, 2025, Jongbopsa in Sydney, Australia, held a grand opening ceremony for the Arirang Cultural Center at the temple’s cultural center. The ceremony was attended by Ven. Gihu, the Senior Elder, and Ven. Seolwu, the secretary general of the temple, as well as the enthusiastic Korean-Australian crowd assembled for the opening. The community celebrated the occasion with a variety of events, including traditional folk song performances and Korean music experiences.
The Arirang Cultural Center will host a lecture by Ven. Gihu on Myeongsim bogam (明心寶鑑, ‘The Mirror of Your Mind'), as well as various cultural and social welfare programs every Friday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.
“I am happy to have a place for the senior members of the Korean community in Australia to interact with each other and enjoy our traditional culture again,” said Ven. Gifu, emphasizing the significance of the center's opening.
“We hope that the Arirang Cultural Center will become a space for welfare and culture that will rejuvenate our daily lives,” said Ven. Seolwu in her welcome speech.
