Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
The Korean Buddhist Kwanumsa in NSW
The Korean Buddhist Kwanumsa in New South Wales (NSW), established by Ven. Jeongo in 1989, is situated in Punchbowl, in the southwestern part of Sydney. Ven. Jeongo envisioned the establishment of a Korean temple in Australia to introduce Korean Buddhism to the region. To fund this mission, she and her followers engaged in various fundraising activities, such as producing deungjang (Korean soybean paste) and gochujang (Korean chili paste) under the temple's brand, which were supplied to major Korean grocery stores. Presently, the Korean Buddhist Kwanumsa in NSW hosts Sunday Dharma services with the participation of around 30 devotees. The temple also conducts ceremonies on special occasions, including the Buddha's Birthday, All Souls’ Day (Ullambane), and the winter solstice.
