Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Diamond Zen Center
The Diamond Zen Center, established in 1986 by Master Mujudang Cheonghwa, daejongsa, aimed to promote Korean Buddhism in the United States. Following a three-year retreat, he acquired a building situated at an altitude of 1,200 meters in a remote Southern California mountain area, approximately two hours from Los Angeles. The temple expanded its facilities, including the construction of the main Buddha hall, dormitories, a bell tower, and the illju-mun (one-pillar gate). The center conducts regular Dharma services on the first and third Sundays of each month, with around 30 participants. Additionally, it operates a Liberation Study Group, catering to approximately 10 individuals, providing customized meditation guidance.
