Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Nirvana Buddhist Center
Ven. Jeongeup explored the areas in the United States focusing on the places lacking Korean Buddhist temples for three years. Consequently, it led to the establishment of the Nirvana Buddhist Center in Seattle, Washington in 1988. Situated approximately 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, the Nirvana Buddhist Center occupies a sprawling 10-acre site characterized by its natural beauty, including flowing streams, marshes, small lakes, and lush forests. At present, the Nirvana Buddhist Center hosts Dharma services on the first and third Sundays, as well as meditation sessions on the second and fourth Sundays. The center also actively observes all five major Buddhist holidays: the Buddha's Birthday, the Buddha's Renunciation Day, the Buddha's Enlightenment Day, the Buddha's Parinirvana Day, and the All Soul's Day (Ullambane).
