Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
BUD Zen Center
The BUD Zen Center, situated in New York, is an extension of a temple and Buddhist University with the same name in Korea. Founded in Flushing, New York, in 2010, under the guidance of Ven. Uhak, a senior teacher with a global vision for the spread of Korean Buddhism, the center is dedicated to the mission of promoting "Fundamental Buddhism, Global Buddhism, and Cutting-edge Buddhism" to disseminate the authentic teachings of the Buddha across the world. Located conveniently for the Korean community and with easy access to Manhattan, this temple has evolved into a welcoming place for the broader local population, regardless of their Korean heritage. The temple offers Sunday Dharma services, conducts sutra study classes, and provides meditation programs. It also organizes gatherings such as the 108 prostrations groups. BUD Zen Center effectively harmonizes the core principles of Korean Buddhism within the American cultural context while honoring the venerable lineage of Tongdo-sa Temple.
