Gwaneumsa of Sandiego opened its doors in February 1995 with Ven. Doan as its abbot, who was concurrently the abbot of Gwaneumsa in LA, and held its first Dharma assembly. In April 2017, the temple received accreditation as a religious NGO (non-profit organization) from the State of California. The temple hosts regular Dharma services on the second and fourth Sundays every month and runs a meditation class every Thursday for both Korean Americans and immigrants from other countries.
