Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Borisa Zen Center
Borisa Zen Center's journey began on October 1, 2008, as a small temple located in front of the UC Berkeley campus in California. It was mainly a gathering place for young Buddhists and international students who assembled every Sunday for a Dharma service. Eight years later, Borisa Zen Center merged with Jeongwon-sa Temple in San Jose and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. As the sole Korean Buddhist temple in the area, the center now conducts a weekly Dharma service every Tuesday, typically attended by approximately 15 individuals. Tuesday was chosen for this service as it is a day off for many residents in Las Vegas. The temple practices a prayer ritual to promote peace and alleviate anxiety. Looking to the future, the Borisa Zen Center has various plans, including the construction of a new Buddha hall, hosting youth groups, and offering Korean language classes to foster an appreciation of Buddhism among the younger generation.
