Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
GwanEumSa
In December 2003, Ven. Gyeonghyeon, the abbot of Bongdu-sa Temple in Hapcheon, Korea, was invited to preside over a Dharma service for families at the home of a devoted follower. This gathering marked the inception of GwanEumSa Temple, which celebrated the opening ceremony in 2004. The temple underwent relocation in 2007 and initiated the project of constructing a new building in 2014, ultimately settling at its present location in May 2018. GwanEumSa Temple is dedicated to Buddhist practice and propagation efforts. The temple conducts regular monthly Dharma services on the first and third Sundays and offers meditation classes for the local Mexican residents every Saturday. Furthermore, the temple is raising funds to construct a main Buddha hall in the traditional Korean architectural style, a pioneering endeavor among Korean temples in Mexico, and is in the process of registering as a non-profit religious organization with the Mexican government.
