Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Younhwasa
Younhwasa in London, established in 1989 by Ven. Jisu, has its roots in an informal home-based Dharma gathering. While it is a relatively small temple located near the sizable Korean community in New Malden, it actively participates in a variety of spiritual activities. The temple hosts a regular Sunday Dharma service, typically attended by around 25 individuals, and organizes scripture study sessions. Furthermore, Younhwasa conducts Thursday meditation sessions and provides a modest Seon meditation program on Thursdays. For the Korean community, Younhwasa observes major traditional holidays like Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and adorns the temple with paper lotus lanterns to commemorate Buddha's Birthday. Despite its size, the temple's weekly sutra study and meditation sessions contribute to the ongoing pursuit of happiness.
