Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism
Nokyawon
Nokyawon's history began in 1993 when it acquired land located near the Mahabodhi Temple, just a brief 5-minute walk from the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon. In 2003, ground was broken for the construction of this temple, which represents Korean Buddhism in India, and within slightly over a year, the temple completed the construction of a two-story dormitory. Nokyawon caters to the needs of Korean pilgrims to this most sacred of all Buddhist sites, in an area dotted with temples representing various Buddhist traditions. Additionally, Nokyawon actively engages in community outreach initiatives including the operation of a clinic that delivers free medical services to the locals.
