Haeinsa Pogyowon

Haeinsa Pogyowon has a history dating back to 1991 when it began as informal Dharma gatherings held in the homes of followers, until Ven. Wonmyeong officially named the temple "Haeinsa Pogyowon” three years later. In 2007, the temple secured registration with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, and in 2011, Haeinsa Pogyowon celebrated with a plaque dedication ceremony after being officially registered with the Indonesian government under the name "Haeinsa Indonesia." In July 2012, an eye-dotting ritual was conducted to consecrate Buddhist altar paintings, symbolizing the completion of the Dharma hall. The temple conducts regular Dharma services, including monthly ceremonies on the first day of the lunar calendar, rituals venerating Avalokitesvara and Kstigarbha Bodhisattvas, as well as weekly Sunday Dharma services for families. It also commemorates significant Buddhist events like Buddha's Birthday and All Souls’ Day (Ullambane). At present, Haeinsa Pogyowon has approximately 150 families and 250 individual followers registered with the temple. It actively participates in community activities, fostering friendship and engaging in volunteer work such as visiting local nursing homes and aiding the less fortunate, including offering scholarships. The temple places a strong emphasis on nurturing the mind and cultivating a spirit of generosity among its members.
